Antique French Mirror, Goddess and Chimera, 19. His exquisite antique French mirror is beautifully designed with openwork patterns of arabesques and stylized neoclassic motifs. The top is ornamented with a the head of a goddess, frequently shown in 19th. Century decorative objects, in the center of a pediment crowned by a basket of fruit. The bottom features an heraldic motif and a chimera on either side, also a popular motif in French 19th. The oval shape mirror is beveled and the back is covered by a brass plaque. The metal parts exhibit a lovely aged patina with tones of gold on silver. The mirror itself shows loss of the silver backing, two chips on the right side and a few scratches.
